Joining Together Safely: HPBExpo 2021 COVID-19 Planning and Considerations

Navigating today’s new normal—and trade event—means following a new set of standards and protocols, many of which have already been incorporated into our HPBExpo 2021 planning, such as touchless registration, enhanced cleaning, and social distancing. We want to reassure you that even more safety measures are in progress as we finalize details for the show, and we intend to be as transparent as possible in response to your understandable questions and concerns. In an effort to keep you, our exhibitors and attendees, in the loop, we want to share what we know and what we are doing to achieve our goal of conducting a healthy and safe event by compiling relevant details and guidelines as they’re evolving. We encourage you to stay informed and visit this page regularly for updates.

How HPBExpo is Preparing for June: Safety Measures & FAQs

As we prepare for HPBExpo 2021 in Louisville, June 23–26, we are focused on the health and well-being of our exhibitors and attendees, applying guidelines and standards issued by the CDC, as well as federal, state, and local government agencies.

Show management is continually monitoring the situation and working closely with Louisville’s local authorities for the latest updates to make well-informed decisions.

HPBExpo is collaborating with the Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) to ensure protocols will be in place to keep our community safe, including:

Social Distancing

Tables, chairs, seating areas, and other physical layouts will be arranged to ensure appropriate distancing. We encourage all participants to practice social distancing—standing at least six feet away from others—whenever possible. All meeting rooms will comply with local or state mandated occupancy limits. Face coverings are required inside the facility.

Hand sanitizers will be readily available throughout high-traffic areas of KEC. The frequency of cleaning and disinfection for high-touch and high-traffic areas—including bathrooms, entrances, and offices—will also be increased.

HPBExpo and Louisville will post helpful reminders throughout the facility to keep social distancing requirements and safety guidelines fresh in everyone’s minds.

GBAC STAR™ Facility Accreditation

The Global BioRisk Advisory Council (GBAC) has awarded the Kentucky Exposition Center GBAC STAR accreditation—the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response, and recovery accreditation for facilities. Known as the “gold star of prepared facilities,” earning the designation means Kentucky Exposition Center:

  • Established and is maintaining a cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention program to minimize risks associated with infectious agents like coronavirus
  • Has proper cleaning protocols, disinfection techniques, and other practices in place to combat biohazards
  • Employs highly informed cleaning professionals trained for outbreak and infectious disease preparation and response

In the event of an in-person event cancellation, what are the plans for HPBExpo 2021?

Should the in-person event be cancelled, we are working on alternative paths forward and will transition to an interactive virtual show.

Will travel restrictions affect HPBExpo 2021?

We are watching travel restrictions closely and will continue to provide updates as the show approaches. Fortunately, Louisville is a prime location, with 50% of the U.S population living within driving proximity, providing easy access for people who want to avoid air travel.

We encourage you to visit the Louisville COVID-19 Response page for the latest government updates and restrictions.
